Responsible for new product design and development, which includes creating design concepts, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, prototypes , completion of all required documentation, and product approval and transfer of product into production.
What you will be doing:
- Create design concepts for new product.
- Create all required documentation with the aid of SolidWorks CAD system.
- Ability to take the technical leadership role on customer driven new product projects
- Conduct engineering related meetings, such as technical design reviews and DFMEAs as required per Amphenol Alden's Quality Management System procedures.
- Transfer of SolidWorks models, part drawings, and other required documentation to the Tooling Development department for mold tool design.
- Provide technical support throughout product life cycle.
- Work with the prototype lab manager to develop prototypes and iterate the design process.
- Communicate and work with marketing, sales, quality, and operations on design details and output.
What we are looking for:
- Knowledge of engineering principles.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD system.
- Knowledge of materials (metals & plastics), manufacturing processes, and assembly design principles.
- Ability to design components in both plastic and metal materials.
- Good technical and business presentation skills.
- Experience with model storage and retrieval systems (SolidWorks ePDM preferred).
- Minimum 6-10 years' mechanical design engineering experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Desired Experience:
- Medical device experience
- Connector and cable assembly experience.
- PCB design experience is a plus, but not required
